Today’s piece is titled “Nocturne”.
This piece is a little mysterious and a little gritty. When I began writing it I knew I wanted to write an ambient piece like I normally do, but switch out the synthesizers with different orchestral instruments.
I began with replacing the synth pad with the string section by playing a part for the synthesizer like I normally would, and then dividing up the part between the cello, viola, and two violins. And then the bass obviously took the place of the synth bass. Next, I bestowed the honor of the sequence upon the celeste, which I would normally give to a bright sounding synth. Finally, I filled out the song with trombones, bass trombones, flutes, oboes, and bassoon, each playing little improvised melodies or providing support.

what do you see when you look at the clouds?
This month’s piece is titled “what do you see when you look at the clouds?”
Absolutely love this piece! I searched out my earbuds--and listened on repeat.
Enjoyed the tension and layers, feels a touch spooky in a good way.
