This month’s piece is titled “Echoes”.
A few months ago I sat down to record a piano piece I had been working on. It’s a neoclassical solo piano piece that I really enjoyed playing and thought sounded great. Once recorded, I promptly forgot about it and didn’t return to the file for a couple of months.
After remembering about the piece, I decided to check back in with it and work on it to get it ready to publish in this newsletter. Well, I didn’t really like how it sounded. I still loved the piece, but thought it might need to be re-recorded or edited or something.
However, I did discover something else. After I recorded that piece, at some point, I recorded the piano part above. I vaguely remember doing this.
After listening to it a bit, it grew on me and I decided I would rather work on this one instead. It felt more natural and less forced. I ran it through my guitar pedal, did some arranging, and added a synth at the end.
What began as a piano sketch recorded at the end of a recording session, forgotten about, and then rediscovered, turned out to be a piece I enjoy greatly.

I love these types of ambient soundscapes. Really beautiful work.
You’ve described the perfect way to create! Music, prose, poetry — it all comes to life just like that, being rediscovered, loved and aired… 😊
