Luna
This month’s song is titled Luna.
Similar to Golden Light, Luna’s melody is played by a cello while synths provide supporting harmonies. If Golden Light was an experiment in composition, then Luna is an experiment in production.
I pushed myself to try new things with automation in composing Luna. Automation is when you set certain parameters to change in specific ways at certain times throughout a piece of music. For example, you can automate the volume of a guitar to increase in volume by a few decibels for a solo and then lower once the solo is finished.
In the past, I’ve automated volume and panning, but Luna is the first song I’ve automated EQs and synth filters. It’s a simple way to help the song develop and create interest.
Thanks for reading and giving Luna a listening. I’d love to know what you think, please leave a comment below.
My song from last month’s newsletter, Golden Light, is now available anywhere you stream or purchase music. Luna will be released everywhere on April 24th.
